Model numbers / Craftsman
What do the letters at the end of Craftsman model numbers mean?
On Craftsman US model numbers, B means bare tool: no battery or charger; D2 means kit with two 2.0Ah batteries and a charger (usually); M1 means kit with one 4.0Ah battery and a charger (usually); D1 means kit with one 2.0Ah V20 battery and a charger (usually).
Craftsman (V20) model numbers end like DEWALT's: B means bare tool; in kits a letter names the battery and the number counts them.

What the Craftsman ending does not tell you
- C2 is not listed: one C2 kit (CMCD713C2) ships 2.0Ah batteries, not the 1.5Ah the letter usually means. Read the box list.
- C1 is not listed: CMCD700C1's box list names one 1.3Ah battery while CMCD713C1's names two 2.0Ah batteries, and both titles say 1.5Ah. The maker's pages disagree; read the box list.
"Usually" means we found exceptions or too few examples to call it a rule. The box list on each model page, taken from Craftsman's own page, is what to trust. For battery counts and sizes across every kit we cover, see what ships in each kit.
