Model numbers / Ryobi

What do the letters at the end of Ryobi model numbers mean?

By Rob, licensed electrician (Australia), 18 years on the tools · Checked 2026-10-16 against Ryobi's US product pages

On Ryobi US model numbers, B means bare tool: no battery or charger; K means kit with a battery and a charger (usually); K1 means kit, usually with one battery and a charger (usually); K2 means kit, usually with two batteries and a charger (usually).

Ryobi (18V ONE+) model numbers end in B for the bare tool and K for a kit. The number after K does not reliably count the batteries, and a few bare tools (P262) have no letter at all.

What the Ryobi ending does not tell you

"Usually" means we found exceptions or too few examples to call it a rule. The box list on each model page, taken from Ryobi's own page, is what to trust. For battery counts and sizes across every kit we cover, see what ships in each kit.
